Student Life

Campus is a great place to be!

In order to provide a safe, pleasant environment, we provide multiple locations around campus to eat, relax, exercise, study, play games and fellowship with other students. Some of the amenities you can expect to find on campus will be:

The Heartland Cafeteria

The cafeteria provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner on a daily basis for students, staff, and guests on campus. The main entrée as well as a full salad bar and large selection of beverages provide for a high quality, balanced meal. The cafeteria was fully renovated during the summer of 2014, and we are thankful for the modern look and consistent service provided by the cafeteria staff. Off-campus students are welcome to purchase individual meals in the cafeteria during any mealtime.

The “Perk”spective Café

The Perk is located on the first floor of the cafeteria building. Whether you like plain black coffee, or you are a connoisseur of specialty espresso and tea beverages, this is the place for you. Local coffee roasters provide our top-notch coffee. Also on the menu are breakfast foods (during the morning hours) and snacks, soft drinks, and appetizers for later in the day. During the evenings, the Perk is a popular place to play games and spend casual time with other students.

Campus Bookstore

The Heartland Bookstore is located on the first floor of the administration building and is a great resource for purchasing Bibles, ministry-related books, sheet music, Heartland apparel, and conservative godly music from both Heartland music groups and a number of other singing groups. Any textbooks that you will need for classes can be ordered at registration and picked up in the bookstore. Also, for your convenience, several computers in the bookstore are available for internet use.

Go Ye Café

The Go Ye Café is located inside the bookstore and provides a casual place to get snacks, visit with other students, relax in between class periods, or play some games during the evenings. The Go Ye has fresh donuts each morning, a variety of snacks, candy, breath mints, and hot and cold beverages. The Go Ye is open anytime the bookstore is open.

Library

The library was completely renovated in 2016 and is a beautiful, quiet setting for online research, looking for resources, or personal studying. Computers in the library are also available for projects if you don’t have your laptop with you or if you want to work on a project in a group setting. The librarians are available to help you locate any resources you need, and the college provides several tutors, at no cost, each evening to assist students who may need help with homework.

Gym

The Mike Thomas Memorial Gymnasium is open during the evenings for basketball, volleyball or just to “hang out.” During the semester, ladies play intramural volleyball on Friday evenings and the men play intramural basketball on Saturday evenings. The gym is a great place to get some exercise or just to spend time interacting with other students.

Campus Service Center

The CSC is located on the first floor of the administration building next to the bookstore. The staff working in the CSC are available to help you if you need to make copies, send a note to another student, mail letters or packages, buy stamps, drop off homework assignments for class or drop off any item for a faculty or staff member. As a student, you will be assigned a mailbox; any mail or packages you receive can be picked up at the CSC.

Fellowship Center

The fellowship center is located on the first floor of the administration building. The college receptionist desk is located in the fellowship center, and the receptionist will be able to answer any questions you may have or to direct you to the right department. The fellowship center is designed as a greeting area for visitors and also has several seating areas providing a quieter setting to visit with fellow students.

Wifi

Wifi is available in all the residence halls and all of the locations listed above except for the gym.

Campus Tours

Campus tours are provided through the Dean of Students’ Office. If you have friends or family visiting you on campus, we would welcome the opportunity to show them around campus, introduce them to staff and faculty, and help them get oriented to the layout of the campus. Please let us know if we can help make their visit more pleasant through a campus tour.
