Missions

Have you ever wondered how a person becomes a missionary?

How do missionaries know where God wants them to go?

How does a missionary prepare to go to the field?

The missions program at Heartland is designed to help you identify where God would have you to serve and to prepare you to minister to people regardless of their cultural background.

The instructors in the missions program have many years of practical experience both serving on the foreign mission field and in ministering to the many different people groups that we have here in the United States. They have a great desire to train the next generation of missionaries in presenting the Gospel and teaching the Bible to over 7 billion people in the world today.

Here are just a few of the practical lessons/skills you will learn: raising financial support, creating a missions display and video, preparing to move to another country, dealing with culture shock, learning a new language, raising kids in another country, and coming home on furlough—as well as many other aspects of missionary work.

While involved in the Missions major here at Heartland Baptist Bible College, you will have the opportunity to be actively involved in praying for, and interacting with, current missionaries through the weekly Missions Prayer Band and through the annual Missions Emphasis Week. Regular missions trips give students opportunities to be involved in foreign missions and in ministering to diverse people groups here in the United States. You will also have the opportunity to complete a missions internship as part of your Heartland learning experience.

If you are seeking God’s direction about becoming a missionary, we would encourage you to consider attending Heartland Baptist Bible College.
